THEOLOGOS...

Belief as a concept recognises words of intention...

Fear treads wearily into the lives of those of us who are unwilling to implement into our life all that we aspire to believe, as followers of The Christ.

Belief as a concept recognises words of intention. Faith in that belief can only be understood within its faithful sacrifice of self, in following The Christ.

In fear is found the foundation of insecurity and its manifestation of all that can be recognised as the insecure personality, so often reflected in the lives of those of us who are enthusiastic in our choice of the apparent security found in regulation of our everyday life.

It is when our security net is tested through the trials of living that we begin to understand that our faith in the assurances offered through living by laws, is so often rewarded with our failure to cope when our problems overcome our apparent human capacity to deal with all that life sends our way to enable us to grow stronger through the experiences of living.

The fear-filled person is always recognisable by his or her unwillingness to view life's problems beyond the next Prozac capsule or aspirin tablet, to numb our recurring headaches.

That Western society is now dealing with its tens of millions of insecure human beings through chemical addiction, is to understand that our medical profession elects to "treat" those of us with heightened anxieties as if there is pathological damage to the brain of the patient in need of changing its approach to living life. Thus, the few percent of our population that is in real need of chemical treatment, become the example for all who are suffering from nothing more than their need to stop fearing life's problems through changing their way of living life and live to experience the trials of life, as the generator of a stronger and happier person.

Fear as friendFear can also be appreciated for its value in creating sufficient stresses within our life to generate a reaction that exposes our inability to cope and successfully overcome problems. We can also view fear as the instigator of change in the manner that we attempt to remedy the trials that arrive on our doorstep. The discerning human being will come to realise that fear is no enemy, more a friend whose function is to enable us into reviewing our methods of living our life.

For fear reveals the weaknesses that human nature imposes on its host as a result of the human being failing to recognise its divine reality, as the living reflection of its creator. It is only through recognising and responding positively to its spiritual awareness that human kind is able to overcome fear and flourish as human life, through dependence upon the guidance of its creator.

The thoughtful thinker may occasionally glimpse something of his or her own reflection in the results that appear in their life, when they choose to view their problems as nothing more than another bridge to cross on their journey through life's tribulations and joys, that arise to welcome all who are the result of their successes in living to create the future and leaving the past to posterity.

The seeds of growth can only germinate within human life, when the human person is prepared to accept that resistance is the creator of growth. As the bodybuilder lifts weights, he will use resistance training combined with a healthy diet to create growth in his muscles. So the human person must accept that resistance to that which will oblige us to vault the next hurdle in our progress through life, is also the way that life trains its human creation to better deal with all that life sends it to grow into all that is its plan for each and every individual human being.

Fear is the very outcome of all that continues to dog the lives of most human beings, in their unwillingness to accept the invitation of The Creator to let Him take our problems on His shoulders, to where the perfect solution will always be implemented. If we are to ever return to the safety and perfect assurance of the Garden of Eden then the human being must accept that all will be well when we choose to embrace faith in Our Father, rather than the insecurities that are only too apparent in the lives of those who have chosen to accept the invitation of "the serpent" to live life according to our own fear filled human nature, as understood in praise and service of laws and rules.

How economic inequality harms societiesHow economic inequality harms societies... We feel instinctively that societies with huge income gaps are somehow going wrong. Richard Wilkinson charts the hard data on economic inequality, and shows what gets worse when rich and poor are too far apart: real effects on health, lifespan, even such basic values as trust. Richard Wilkinson, is Professor Emeritus of Social Epidemiology at the University of Nottingham, and cofounder of The Equality Trust, a nonprofit that aims to reduce income inequality by educating and engaging the public while supporting political commitment to address the problem. 16m55s [String on the Catholica Forum where the general issue of wealth inequality and this documentary was first discussed 25Jan12] | [WATCH THE VIDEO]
