For our Sunday reflection we have pleasure in presenting a series of prayers reflecting on the Gifts and the Fruits of the Holy Spirit that have been adapted from a recent series presented in the Daily Prayer in the Classroom program published by the the Catholic Education Office, Parramatta.

Prayer Text:

Father in heaven, help us understand the knowledge that comes into our lives each day
through our work, through the knowledge that comes to us through the media,
through our reading, and via the internet.

Help us assimilate all this knowledge in an orderly way
so that we can retrieve it easily when we need it.
Help us also understand our needs.

Help us discern right from wrong wise behaviour
from stupid or unwise behaviour that just brings grief into our lives.

Help us also understand the needs of those
who struggle every day to stand tall against the world's pain.

Help us look inside ourselves and see
that all humankind is one.

When we do have a "Eureka moment" and
"the penny of understanding drops in our minds"
might we always remember this Second Gift of the Holy Spirit.

Grant us the strength to understand
that each of us can make a difference
to creating peace and harmony in our world.

We ask these things through Jesus Christ, our guide and saviour, Amen
