Catholica
Australia is proud to preview for a strictly limited time
a new song by Mick Bezzina (pictured
right) and Amanda McKenna (see images
below) which seeks to explore the Annunciation story of Mary, the Mother
of God, in more contemporary imagery and musical style. This song was
recorded last Thursday evening, 15th February, and presented to Dr Bezzina
at a farewell dinner held at Rosehill on Friday night to acknowledge his
work as a former director of the Parramatta Catholic Education Office.
Michael Bezzina is now working as Adjunct Professor at ACU National in
the School of Educational Leadership.
Professor Bezzina wrote the words and Amanda McKenna set them to music.
Amanda McKenna is presently employed on a two-year contract with the
Diocese of Parramatta and the Parramatta Catholic Education Office as
a composer in residence. The principal thrust of this initiative is the
production of a range of liturgical and reflection music that better intersects
with the yearnings of young people. Accompanying Amanda on the recording
are Angie Wilkes (vocal harmony and gembe) and John Milligan (vocal harmony
and keyboard).
PLEASE
NOTE : The version now playing is only an excerpt of the full
song. For enquiries about using this song in liturgical settings and copyright
information please contact Amanda McKenna directly at amandamckenna@catholica.com.au.
