![]() Tom McMahon has written his own introduction today... The following is not a commentary from Tom McMahon. I have in advance encouraged Catholica's editor to let this page just present itself. Let the facts speak for themselves and let the laity ponder the stew boil. Brian and I remain spectators with a hope that mature readers will digest the column, think, and perhaps call a friend to share dialogue. I have long fantasized that a Roman Catholic version of Darth Vadar and Luke Skywalker would publicly emerge. Luke is the laity and Darth is the power house hierarchy. If one puts the word laity in place of Empire the concept that Pius the 12th spoke of flashes forth. In 1942 Pius spoke of a sleeping giant that would someday awaken in the Catholic Church, namely the laity. The mass of Catholics who no longer accept Rome as a reliable and a trust worthy spiritual authority is fast growing. What is offered hereafter is the laity's response to the appointment of Bishop Salvatore Cordeleone to the Archdiocese of San Francisco. It was written on the Whispers in the Loggia blog back at the end of July. The challenge, perhaps a fight to the death, is initiated by thinking individuals. DRATS ... we interrupt this program with a bulletin sent to me August 27 concerning the future Archbishop of San Francisco... Click the image above, or the link below, to read the full story DRATS again! This might wreck a good story ... but I'll send it anyway … just in case. I send along "Bombshell by the Bay", a layman's take on the announcement of Pope Benedict's appointment of the new Archbishop of San Francisco, Salvatore Cordileone. The kid gloves are off. The bomb is the voice of the people. What follows is only a graphic of the story to whet your appetite. Be sure to click it, or the link below, to read Rocco Palmo's complete assessment on his Whispers from the Loggia blog. Click the image above, or the link below, to read the full story Tom, Peck's bad boy of the SPS ordination class of 1954 reporting with no personal comments on activities in San Francisco, from fifty miles south of Baghdad by the Bay, hopeful that women and men will chat about this with their neighbors. We have passed through the Age of Aquarius into the Age of the thinking lay person. See ya on the Forum! Tom McMahon, San Jose, Ca.. Trying to recall who was it on TV cartoons that said "drats" when my kids were little in the 1980's? 29Aug2012 ![]() IMAGE SOURCE:
