Statement on 4corners (Main Forum)

by granny, Wednesday, July 04, 2012, 07:00 (320 days ago)

As expected,a statement has been placed on catholic.org.au , official Aussie Bishops website, sorry I'm unable to post it at moment. It is predictable, says the 'right' things but still doesn't 'get it'

Statement on 4corners.....just incredible!

by desi @, Australia, Wednesday, July 04, 2012, 07:57 (320 days ago) @ granny

Statement from Catholic Church regarding Four Corners’ “Unholy Silence” Media Release 3 July, 2012

That is the headline on the 'official' ACBC website story.

The only 'actual' reference to the programme is:

The coming Victorian Inquiry, welcomed by the Archbishop of Melbourne, will no doubt examine some of the tragic stories aired on Four Corners.

Same old, same old...they really do not get it.

Statement on 4corners.....just incredible!

by judith, Walloon Australia, Wednesday, July 04, 2012, 08:36 (320 days ago) @ desi

The tragic stories are part of the whole, but the real need for investigation is how the culture grew which allowed this kind of abuse and the covering up of it.

That may lie outside the remit of a Royal Commission but it is essential if the Church is to be cleansed and get some kind of moral stand back again. I am not holding my breath, though I do trust the Holy Spirit to keep working, even with the dubious material available.

The Holy Spirit and the Holy Roman Catholic Church...

by Brian Coyne ⌂ @, LINDEN, NSW, Wednesday, July 04, 2012, 08:56 (320 days ago) @ judith

Whether the Holy Spirit is a "person" or a "force" [see the recent discussion triggered by Brian Pitts' research LINK] I think it is becoming clearer by the minute that he, she or it gave up on the Holy Roman Catholic Church and its leaders somewhere back around the time that the late Grate bulldozed his way to the front of the queue to lead it. They are no longer interested in the pursuit of truth but seemingly continually trying to prove the proposition of the First Vatican Council that they are the ones who are infallible and as incapable of error as Almighty God is postulated to be. The evidence mounts weekly that the Spirit today paints on a far wider canvas in human society than through the fingers and minds of the hierarchs of Roman Catholicism.

Statement on 4corners.....just incredible!

This is only a reissue of other statements - but when the media trys to contact those involved they are 'overseas' or don't return the calls.

Let us light a candle and say to the dark, we beg to differ
