LCWR move puzzling even to those outside Catholicism -NCR (Main Forum)

It says to non-Christians that women cannot be trusted to think for themselves, to order their lives in ways that make sense, to take reasonable positions on issues, to be autonomous human beings outside the control of males.
Well, I must admit that all major religions suffer with this concept!
It pleased me when non-Catholic groups, including some Presbyterian women, stood up for the Catholic sisters in this case.
Their letter of support should have been told the Catholic hierarchy that people outside of Catholicism notice what goes on in the church and sometimes react to it in ways that should dismay the hierarchy.
Good one, but will the hierarchy listen? Of course not - they don't have to.
I suspect this is why the fundamentalists such as Patrick Madrid have been circulating the world to show (he is in Sydney,
lucky you!) to keep the FTM happy as well as to wave the flag of orthodoxy. Mustn't let the likes of the sisters or those who support the sisters look like they are having any sway within the RCC.

Similarity to abuse of wives-
Anyone having anything to do with abused wives know that there comes a time when she must flee.
The treatment meted out to nuns, priests and increasingly bishops, has already sapped their energy, and they feel helpless. They have been accused of being the problem! We are not even allowed to make sense of our beliefs – “just repeat after me in my exact words and all will be well.”
The abused wife wonders, “Where can I go?” When the marriage of leaders and people has deteriorated to this present state and there are no encouraging signs of change, we must remember that the Church is the People of God. Leaving the institution is not to deny one's faith one's Catholicity or God. It can mean embracing them more fully. We are all called to lead full and authentic lives and for some that does mean 'leaving the institution'. May we find others who by their authenticity and their true living faith can help and encourage us to continue to lead lives of Faith, Hope and Love.
