LCWR annual assembly to go forward

by desi @, Australia, Saturday, April 28, 2012, 13:49 (388 days ago) @ PeterR

When the Vatican put the largest organization representing U.S. women religious into church receivership, saying it needed to submit to the control of an archbishop and reform its statutes, a major criticism cited was the group’s annual assemblies, which were said to have presented viewpoints that were “a serious source of scandal.”

Despite that concern, this year’s assembly of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, planned for August, is to go forward with Vatican acknowledgement, NCR has learned.

This year’s assembly should be an interesting one!

WATCH YOUR MONEY,SISTERS ....
Submitted by Jerry Slevin (not verified) on Apr. 26, 2012.
WATCH YOUR MONEY,SISTERS .... Vatican dictators just nailed a half dozen Irish priests for daring to think and speak freely. They could have done the same thing to American nuns, but they didn't. Why not? The Irish

Church is almost broke; American nuns aren't.

This isn't about theology. It is about money. Apparently, in order to protect Cardinal Mahony from having to testify under oath, Bishop Blair just authorized a $3.75 million settlement for one single abuse plaintiff. No victims' lawyers will now be seeking anything less in the future. Assume 1,000 victims in the future, a very conservative estimate, and you are facing a $3.75 BILLION dollar payout, more that has been paid out so far in total over two decades.

It appears that many American bishops are sitting in virtually bankrupt dioceses. Solution, brother bishops, let's call the nuns "heretics" and just seize their assets. Sisters, please all talk promptly to your civil lawyers before you get fleeced in the name of the Magisterium. Cardinal Dolan showed the way in Milwaukee. Move your cash and other assets into entities the desperate bishops cannot reach.

You can always have Happy Talk with the bishops. But if you do it as paupers, they will not even show up.

From our old friend Jerry Slevin - it does make you wonder!!
