What's wrong with going to confession? - 23rd Sunday (Y-not question the Sunday Readings)
Tony, I have to wonder what the Christ would have done with confessionals bearing in mind his anger in the temple and his talk on children and millstones. It is good for people to unload and I suggest it is only Dogma that says it has to be a priest you unload to.To me Christ was always encouraging people to not be afraid to express their own opinions . and to be comfortable with their own thoughts about god. I don’t know how many micks are left but everyone who thinks they have to confess to a priest and go to mass every Sunday even if you have to half kill the kids to get them there on time you have to shun a person because he suggests something different to what dogma and doctrines compel a person to do. To follow dogma in an attempt to get a better class of Nirvana or become a better class of Dead person is just another form of guilt overload which the Church is so good at.While confession may be good for the soul confessionals are a source of danger for the communities Children and as Christians we should be treating every child the way we would like our own to be treated. The sacristy of the confessional was fataly injured the first time a priest let his sexual urges override his brain long long wayback . just a few scattered thoughts of a mongrel Christian.
Cheers Ian Lawther.
