Has Catholica changed or is it just me? (Main Forum)

I’m sorry, but I have to say I applauded what Vince had to say. I am one who was spiritually reborn at the advent of Vatican II, only to live long enough to see Vatican II repudiated. It began about 12 years ago, when the new priest sent to us, stood in front of the congregation, saying, (and I’m not paraphrasing) “You have been taught wrong, and you have to relearn everything.”

He was speaking, of course, about Vatican II. Since then, we have had a succession of similar priests. Today, our parish doesn’t just resemble the 1940’s church I was reared in, but mirrors it nearly exactly in thinking and practice. I have predicted that the altar rails will soon return, which I’m sure they will.

If I couldn’t abide the pre-Vatican II church when I was 20, why would I desire to return to the enslavement of the man-made church Vince speaks about? Geography prevents seeking alternatives.

For me, one of my great hopes was spoken months ago by PeterR, when he advanced the idea that Eucharist is a Verb. In addition, over these same months I’ve learned much from Francis, and my other hero, Oh Yet We Trust.

Vince, I hope you will have some more to say.
