Enabling the blind to see (Main Forum)
Ian's thoughts helps us appreciate that Thomas the Apostle is the representative of each and every human being, when expressing our doubts and reservations on all that faith in The Christ, asks of us.
Thomas asked for tangible proof that Jesus of Nazareth had resurrected, into new life. Our doubting Thomas was not satisfied with the words of the Risen Christ. The Christ invited Thomas to physically examine His body, in order to satisfy Thomas that He was in reality the very person who had recently been crucified, buried and risen into eternal life in the embrace of The Father. Thomas was to be overwhelmed by his discovery.
In our own journey of faith there will be moments, days, months and even years when we will doubt the Truth that asks us to trust its guidance, in all matters. Those misgivings are part of our journey of faith. Our willingness to question our sanity and our freely chosen dependence upon our faith in The Christ, reminds us that we are still the natural woman or man. For in questioning our faith in the invisible we are choosing to remind our self that we always remain human, and vulnerable to our need to satisfy our natural reasoning.
If we cannot see, hear, feel or taste our focus of faith, then it cannot be. The natural person perceives the need to satisfy its human senses that all it believes should be visible and accountable, to human reasoning.
The person of faith falls and rises to recognise that faith is the very personification of our invisible strengths, ever present within our very being and well able to raise us out of our self inflicted pit of hell. For our sight is always expressed according to our inspiration, intuiting us to follow its guidance, so that we may live in celebration of our life.
In those times when our human nature imposes its will and our doubts attempt to overcome our faithfulness in The Christ, we should recall Thomas the Apostle and his choice to request The Risen Christ to help him out of his blind alley of doubt, and restore the faith that permits the blind to see. For the faithful will always recognise the way ahead when permitting the ever present companion of our journey through life, to let Him be our ever present proof that the blind will see when they choose to place their hand into the hand of The Saviour.
