Dear all,

I've just had a note sent to me reporting the passing of Ted Mason. Ted had written a number of commentaries for Catholica and Amanda and myself travelled to Carcoar to interview him a few days before his retirement as leader of the Shalom House of Prayer community. In one of those deep conundrums of life that test the faith of even the most ardent believers, a few days after his retirement, Ted was diagnosed with advanced cancer and he was unable to enjoy the extended retirement he had been looking forward to after what was a quite extraordinary lay commitment to "spreading the Good News" through the work at Shalom. On behalf of the Catholica community, Amanda and I would like to express our deepest sympathy to Ada, his boys and their extended families as well as all the people connected with the Shalom House of Prayer and the community of Carcoar.

Ted's funeral service will be held at St Brigid's Catholic Church, Brisbane St, Dubbo at 11.30am on Tuesday 28th July.

His internment will follow at Western District's Memorial Park, Boothenba Rd. North Dubbo.

Hot food and refreshments will follow at the RSL Club in Brisbane St.
