Will it be women who restore some credibility to ecclesial leadership? (Main Forum)

One of our readers sent me through the YouTube video below. It features Barbara Marx Hubbard a futurist who addressed the Leadership Conference of Women Religious in St Louis last week. In a report in the New York Times last week Ms Hubbard told the nuns "You are the best seedbed that I know for evolving the church and the world in the 21st century. Now, that may be a surprise to the world. But, you see, new things always happen from unexpected places."

I've been wondering for quite a while whether it will be women who turn out to the major catalyst for change in how the world approaches spirituality and religion. Elsewhere on the forum I have raised the question of "authority" [LINK] and what Barbara Hubbard speaks about in the video is very much inline with that I was trying to say. In the alternative vision that I have put forward, the Spirit remains the prime place of "Authority". The only thing that changes is the egos of the patriarchal intermediaries are attenuated a little. Where I originally viewed the video it was embedded in a website called theshiftnetwork.com and the Managing Editor, Byron Belitsos wrote a short editorial about Barbara which is worth reading HERE.

The report in the New York Times is also worth reading.
