...and what people further generations from today will look back and say about the behaviour of people like himself. His behaviour in regards to refugees, using them in his almighty quest for power at the expense of anyone and any moral principles whatsoever is on the same scale as the sexual abuse of minors. He ought hang his head in absolute shame for the discredit he brings to Catholicism and even to the founding principles of the Liberal Party which he leads today. Abbott's policies are disapproved by 57% of the Australian electorate (Julia Gillard's are worse at 60%) and it is incredible given the fortuitous position this country is in compared to many other countries of the world that we have two leaders so "on the nose". A lot of this situation has come from Abbott's total intransigence over the asylum seeker issue and his determination, come hell or high water, and no matter how many drown in the seas north of Australia, to use this issue as a lever with the 15% yobbo element he needs in the Australian population to get Julia Gillard thrown out as prime minister and himself installed in her place. What moral example does our nation show to the world by what is going on at the moment? What moral example does Captain Catholic show to our world or even to his own people? His disapproval rating gives us the answer.
