I was lucky! (Main Forum)

by CathyT @, Adelaide, South Australia, Saturday, June 30, 2012, 13:43 (329 days ago) @ Roy

I suppose I really was lucky, as I had an excellent doctor, and I was also still getting injections of the epidural for some days after the birth (as long as the serious pain lasted). It meant I couldn't get up and move around for a few days, but being the lazy sod that I am, that didn't bother me at all! I had my beautiful little Lucilla in a crib next to my bed, and - unlike her older brother - she took to breast-feeding instantly and easily, so we had some good bonding time. They also let you stay in hospital for longer in those days compared to what seems to be the case now, so I was in there for well over a week.

Of course, when I added my bit to this thread I was just writing from my own experience; I didn't intend to imply that Caesarean birth was necessarily like that for all women or even most women. My apologies if I offended anyone.
