Talitha Koum! Sunday Readings: 13th Sunday Year B (Y-not question the Sunday Readings)

After enjoying Ynot's meditation on the Gospel reading for Sunday, July 1, 2012, I thought to check Ancestry.com for other naming misunderstandings. There are many!

This family history confirms Ynot's observation: "Talitha" is a scriptural word turned into a name, from the phrase, "talitha cumi," meaning "damsel arise" (Mark 5:41). Sometimes the words are turned into a single name, "Talithacumi." Talitha is not a nickname or variation of "Tabitha," which is Hebrew for "gazelle."
