Act II Scene II - Monologue
As the curtain rises the Boss is alone, sitting on his throne, reading a copy of his favourite mystery novel (he hurriedly puts it into a plain brown paper bag and secretes it under his flowing robes).
“I am so confused; ze whole leaky situation is a mystery to me.
I zinc zat zere are many journalists playing ze game of trying to imitate Dan Brown and zey continue to invent fairytales and repeat legends. I don’t know who dunnit!
Vy is the media so full of pettiness and lies which they spread in these days?
Is zere an attempt to destabilize my organization, it is all a conundrum to me.
Some say zat ze division zey are trying to sow comes from the Devil but how can zat be as zey are all ‘good and faithful servants’....Ok maybe one wasn't!
I am confused.
How can I explain the fact that people who regularly received the Lord’s body and confessed their sins in the sacrament of penance have offended in this way?
To me it remains a mystery.”
As the lights fade The Boss is seen trying to find his place in his mysterious mystery book.
