By chance, this article has just landed in my inbox from Crikey.
Bernard Keane, whose work I respect, presents another point of view.
Why getting Australians into mining jobs doesn’t add up.

My only question is - what conditions will these imported workers have to put up with? Presumably many of them will also have families, much farther away than Aussie workers. It may solve one problem, but create many others. Will these workers have a union to look out for their interests?
