Wednesday, 02 May 2012 Pondering the process of redemption and rejuvenation... Dear Friends, Tom McMahon in his commentary today is a little more self-reflective wondering if he tests us, his readers, a little too much with the radical ideas he puts on the table for reflection? In answering his own question he concludes "no" and one suspects most of you might agree given the mounting evidence of dysfunction in the institutional Church. He ponders the process of redemption and rejuvenation as we continue the search for the authentic Jesus in our lives. There was a bit of local sensation here is Sydney overnight with the very public confession on the biggest television news network in town of a priest who was quitting after being secretly married for the past twelve months. The local diocese has been in damage control quicly appointing an administrator to take over the parish which is just at the bottom of the Blue Mountains. (Milly was music director for the grand-opening of their new parish church less than two years ago.) The priest in question didn't hold back on television last night. What makes the case more interesting is that he is reputed to come from a pretty religiously conservative family.
Wishing you a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life and in our world. Catholica |
