Should I leave or should I go?

Commentary Headline

Dear Friends,

The first of the contributions we have selected for this series comes from a professional woman in North America. A convert to Catholicism she writes how she has become tired of an endless cycle of joining and leaving various endeavours over her lifetime and the lessons she has learned. While presently classifying herself as non-practising nevertheless she does not feel she has left nor has she intention of seeing herself in that way. As explained in last week's introduction to this series we will be publishing all the selecting stories we have received anonymously. The series has been prepared by my soul mate, wife and co-publisher of Catholica, Milly Mungbeans (otherwise also known as Amanda McKenna).

For those far away from Australia there are some fascinating developments in the press down under concerning a returning Anglican Archbishop, originally ordained as a Catholic priest, who alleges abuse (proved in at least one case) when he was in the Catholic seminary and priesthood. The matter is now also in the Australian Federal Parliament with a senator threatening to name a priest under parliamentary privilege tonight unless the Archdiocese suspends a priest accused of wrong-doing. The matter is complex and the agendas of all involved difficult to discern but the story is regularly breaking with new developments. There is an aspect to it similar to Benedict extending his hand to the SPXX and the embarrassment that caused with Bishop Williamson. Contributors to our forum are posting regular updates as news breaks in the media.
