Your thoughts and prayers for a friend in need...
Dear Friends,
Today's commentary comes, as usual on a Monday, from Tom Lee. I have to confess I've been pondering how to say this for weeks and I am not at all sure how to write this without it being either over-dramatised or underdramatised in the minds of any reader. The truth is Tom is travelling through a very rough patch at the moment having, in advanced age, been forced to leave the United States and become a sort of refugee. The details are complex and I am not at liberty to explain them in any detail. The United Kingdom has welcomed them in but, in advanced age, and without any great surfiet of material assets Tom is "doing it tough" as they say looking for a new home. Hopefully he'll be back in email contact as soon as he has a new address and internet connection. These days I don't believe in asking anyone to pray to God for anyone else as though God will perform some "miracle" and cure whatever the ailment is. To tell the truth I feel like launching some sort of appeal for Tom but that's not the answer either. He is though in need of benefactors who can assist through the difficult patch he has encountered at a time of life when most of the rest of the world are able to "put their feet up" and marvel at how clever they have been with their investments and life plans. If you do believe in the "direct power of prayer" I would ask you to keep Tom in your intentions. To Tom, when you read this: your courage in adversity inspires me.
His commentary today — written in much happier times — brings to a conclusion Chapter 25 of his manuscript and the controversial legacy of the Council of Chalcedon.
