A "down-to-earth" saint...
Dear Friends,
The big survey of religious attitudes in Australia published in Fairfax newspapers yesterday makes for interesting reading in light of today's news that Mary MacKillop is definitely going to be Australia's first saint. For once the Vatican seems to have got something right nominating a person who does seem genuinely reflective of the spirituality one experiences in this nation.
Our reflection today might be considered as another coming from a "quiet rebel" — our own octagenerian thinker, perhaps mystic and man of genuine compassion, Francis Brown. It's the very last section from his book which we've been published for half of this year. On behalf of all in the Catholica community could I express our sincere thanks. I know from the feedback I have received and from the readership figures that your reflections have been of value to many people.

In case anyone is wondering, I've been making some subtle changes to the way the clock and date display at the top of the Catholica pages. This is part of my continuing effort to reduce the load on our server. That problem is not yet fixed albeit that in the past week we have gradually brought the load back to about 83%. |
