The animated headline says it all...
Dear Friends,
Tom McMahon came across this column by an Ottawa-based journalist and columnist, Janice Kennedy, earlier in the week and was so moved by what she wrote that he wrote to her to obtain permission for her work to be re-published on Catholica. Triggered by a comment made by the Archbishop of Halifax in response to the arrest of the Bishop of Antigonish, Janice Kennedy, argues that without profound change, the end is coming for Catholicism. What Janice writes fits comfortably with the entire thrust of Tom's commentaries searching for an understanding of the clerical psyche.

SOMETHING MORE POSITIVE: Meanwhile I've just spent a very frustrating, but eventually very satisfying, 48 hours trying to find just the right piece of code for an mp3 player and configure it for the Willow Connection/As One Voice page on the Catholica Marketplace. I eventually succeeded — there are about 24 gzillion bits of code out there for mp3 players but finding the one most appropriate for our situation was another matter. Eventually I succeeded and I'm very pleased with the result. The marketplace is not yet open but visit the page and listen to the music. They are just excerpts from current contemporary Christian music and I basically chose them at random. There are about 20 excerpts altogether. The Church might be dying on its feet but the Spirit is certainly alive when you listen to the depth of talent, and commitment, shown by all the artists who have produced this diversity in reflective and contemporary liturgical music. May God bless them all for the great joy they belp bring into the hearts of so many.
