The link between clerical-sex and abuse...
Dear Friends,
If you've been following the forum you might appreciate that my day off yesterday was more in the nature of a Bus Driver's holiday than much else. There was still plenty of interesting discussion and "stirring of the possum". I did managed to do a few "day off" things as well though so that was good. We're back into the fray today though with a provocative article Richard Sipe sent through in the last couple of days and which some of your might have seen published on his own website late last week. Richard pulls no punches in what he is writing. He "cuts to the chase" on what is a major part of the cause of abuse, and its cover up. He is pushing for greater honesty from our episcopal leaders and greater accountability so that this shame might be eliminated from the institution. <Link to Fr Richard Sipe's article>

Coming up: in the lead-up to Christmas I am planning to publish a number of extended interviews in our series seeking to penetrate the mind of people in leadership positions in the Church. Dr Greg Craven, the Vice-Chancellor at ACU National has agreed to an in-depth conversation with me which we'll record on 27th November. I hope to announce other similar interviews in the next week or so. I am also in the process of negotiating with a couple of commercial publishers to open an On-line Christmas Store for people who might like to purchase small Christmas gifts online through Catholica. With our suppliers you can have the gifts shipped directly to those whom you'd like to send them. More details about that in the next few days.
