Win a copy of Robert Blair Kaiser's new book — Cardinal Mahony, a novel
Dear Friends,
I've been searching around for a few days for an idea for a fun competition for Catholica readers. Courtesy of John Garratt Publishing I have a copy of Robert Blair Kaiser's new book, Cardinal Mahony — A Novel, to give away to some lucky reader. Inspiration came to me last night when someone sent me the following bumper sticker for World Youth Day…

To be in the running for winning a copy of Robert Blair Kaiser's racy novel we'd like you to come up with an alternative caption for a bumper sticker to promote World Youth. It can be serious, it can be satirical, it can be whatever you want it to be. Graphic entries will also be accepted (600px x 155px jpg format) but we will be judging the entries on the words not the graphics. We want a short, pithy sentence that might help promote the Catholic ethos in the shadow of WYD. It can appeal by direct logic or by reverse psychology. It's a completely blank canvas we are handing you. I'll provide details in tomorrow's email about where to send you entries to and the closing date for the competition. For the moment start putting your thinking cap on. Kaiser's book is an excellent prize — another "brick in the wall" of the many initiatives emerging around the world now calling for a fundamental rethink to make Catholicism relevant to today's world.

For our lead commentary today Tom McMahon starts to get stuck into the substance of what looks to be a very thought-provoking series examining the meaning of Sacrament in the 21st Century. He begins today with a few definitions and looking at how we came to have the present seven Sacraments in the Catholic Church. <Read Tom's commentary> |
