How we came to be called Christians…
Dear Friends,
There really are some great conversations going on in the forum at the moment on a variety of different subjects. Thanks for all those who are making this happen. Today's lead commentary is at a slightly lower pace. Because it is simply impossible space wise to serialise the whole of Tom Lee's manuscript we are now having to skip large sections. Today's commentary, which commences with a brief exploration of how the new religion got its name, is really setting the scene for the next series of connected extracts from the manuscript which will be having a look at — the first great missionary journeys. <Read today's commentary>

COMING UP: Tomorrow Dr Andrew Kania has written a special commentary looking in detail at the issue of the married clergy in the Eastern Rite churches. Fr Alex Caughey has placed a post on the forum about a newsworthy happening in the United States where there has been the quiet ordination of a married man in the Melkite Church. It's worth taking a look at this as the issue has raised some hackles with traditionalists who, once again, are trying to read post Vatican II thinking through a Tridentine lens. <Read Fr Alex Caughey's post>
