Sorting fact from pious myth in the trials and crucifixion…

Dear Friends,

Tom Lee is back today at his provocative best. What are the real facts surrounding the trials and death of Jesus as we can best work them out today through historical and biblical research? In my own journey I've been becoming increasing sceptical of the "atonement theology" which seemed to be the basis of the Catholic belief structure I was brought up on. Jesus is not primarily some "magician" who performed some trick on the cross. To me a better theology is to perceive him as the "Divine Emissary — the messenger literally from God the Creator of Everything" — who models for us, no matter who we are, how we have to live. He shows us "the Way" of how to think and how to act through all the tribulations, and the joys, this life throws up, if we too are going to enjoy a resurrection into eternal life. How do you read this story of Jesus? What does it mean to you? Do you agree with my take, or Tom Lee's? Do you think the Church gives the world clear direction on these core issues today or do you find many people are confused about what the real story is? Share your thoughts with us in the forum. <Read today's extract from Tom's manuscript>

AN APOLOGY: I put a note on the forum last night apologising to the people who have ordered a copy of the As One Voice CD. Due to an error on my part I had not been aware of the orders coming in. Things have been sorted now and the details passed on to Willow Publishing and you should receive your cds in the next few days. If anyone else would like to order this cd please click the ad below.

Best wishes for a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life or in our world!
