Who's perceived as the most effective Catholic bishop in Australia?

Dear Friends,

Headline banner

We're kicking off a big survey today to find out who ordinary Australian Catholics think might be the most effective pastoral leader of the Catholic Church in the Great South Land of the Holy Spirit. The survey is open to anyone — yes, even Australia's answer to Fr Ted, Fr John George and his side kicks! Only one vote per isp address, and there are many other dodgy things about this survey, but enjoy yourselves and tell your friends. In amongst all the fun we hope this might stimulate interest in other media where more scientific surveys might be undertaken that do generate a lot of valuable information that might be useful to the Australian Bishops and to Pope Benedict and those helping him in Rome who might actually be a little bit serious about "cleaning up the Catholic Church in Australia" instead of playing politics like the late JPII was! <Click HERE to vote in the survey. All votes are anonymous>

COMING UP: I've dropped the usual Wednesday Forum today because of the work that's gone into getting the survey software functioning properly. Tomorrow I'll be publishing the fascinating interview with Barry Sinclair on how the attitude to divorced Catholics changed so radically in this country in the last 30 years.

Best wishes for a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life or in our world!
