You'll love this...

Dear Friends,

I really don't know what the fuss is some people make about growing old. I have to confess I am enjoying the process of growing older immensely. There is a sort of grace about growing older that I can't quite put my finger on. It's a bit like trying to describe what love is. One of my experiences of "grace" is whenever I receive a message in my inbox from Vince Exley. Even without opening it I know what I will read something that "lifts the spirit". I've had another of those experiences this morning. Vince doesn't actually write these commentaries much. He basically just picks up significant quotations that have impressed him in his recent reading. From the feedback I receive, I know I am not the only one who feels uplifted whenever Vince contributes one of thse reflections.

I've entitled today's reflection "Something Really Special" because I think it is. They are basically a series of thoughts from theologians, Fr Denis Edwards and Karl Rahner, and from William J. Bausch, who is looking at two eighteenth century thinkers, Baron von Huegel and Cardinal Newman. This collection of insights seems to make a lot of sense to me. They are insights that even excite me and leave me with this sense that despite all the problems of our age (and in growing old), what a moment it is to be alive in! <Read Vince's commentary>

Daniel is running late again with the last instalment of his series so hopefully I can bring you that tomorrow.

Best wishes for a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life or in our world!
