What's the real meaning of eucharist?

I honestly think today's commentary by Tom McMahon is one of the most stimulating essays I've ever read on the meaning of the Eucharist. This morning has been one of those metanoia moments as I've prepared this commentary. Somehow his commentaries of recent weeks have been leading up to this. STIMULATING DISCUSSION: In the course of his commentary Tom makes the point that his commentaries don't seem to have stirred much discussion in the forums. I wouldn't be too worried about that Tom. I can tell from the stats that I have access to that plenty of people are reading your commentaries. One of the characteristics that seems to be emerging with Catholica is that often weeks or months can go by before some commentary triggers discussion. We are publishing a fairly massive volume of words each day on Catholica — and they're quality words inviting considered reflection rather than the sort of reactions that one might expect from Pavlov's dogs, or the pea-brained, instantaneous emotive responses that media like talk-back radio go out of their way to stimulate. As mentioned yesterday there are presently a number of considered discussions taking place on our forum including a new thread exploring the Zeitgeist movie that has been the stimulus for a number fo commentaries in the last month or so by different writers..
