EDITOR'S ROUND-UP

The Resurrection – fact, fiction, or future event?
Saturday, 7th April 2007

Dear friends,

It is with a sense of personal joy this Easter that I came to realise Catholica Australia has now been in existence for more than nine months — the period of gestation for a child. We still have a long way to go before I will have a sense that we are truly beginning to even start to fulfil our ultimate objectives. At the same time I am just filled with a sense of thankfulness that somehow the resources have appeared to get us this far. The last few months have been difficult because of events unfolding in the personal and professional lives of Amanda and myself. They have now all been resolved in the last week so I am hopeful that post-Easter we will now be able to apply more energy in order to take Catholica to the next level. Our major priority at the moment continues to be in finding the substantial amount of capital funding we require to both adequately remunerate our lead commentators and to invest in the search engine technologies and promotion that will begin to give us access to that end audience we primarily seek to serve.

In his lead commentary for Easter Saturday, Ian Elmer seeks to open our minds and hearts to the ultimate significance of the Resurrection away from the sorts of discussions that go on endeavouring to portray the resurrection if Jesus as some kind of resuscitation. [more]

And for our weekly readers here's a summary of the lead commentaries from the past week...

OUR COMMENTARIES FROM THE PAST WEEK...
Easter 2007...

AvatarEaster 2007... Catholica will remain open throughout the Easter period and we expect to maintain our regular publishing schedule. We will be endeavouring to maintain a vigorous dialogue in our forums throughout this time of heightened liturgical significance. Whether you are on the road or having a quiet time this Easter we wish special blessings on you and your loved ones. ...Brian Coyne, Editor and Publisher

Peregrinus...

AvatarThe meaning in the Mystery of the Resurrection... In this commentary for Holy Week Peregrinus explores the different Gospel accounts of the Resurrection in search of the meaning in the Mystery. [more]

Andrew's Take...

AvatarApplying conscience to moral dilemmas... In this concluding commentary to his series looking at applied conscience, Dr Kania, returns to the example of Metropolitan Andrii Sheptyts'kyi, the head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church from 1900 to 1944. Sheptyts'kyi's story has been little known in the Western world until the last twenty years following the collapse of the Soviet Union. Dr Kania suggests he stands as a tall leader following the dictates of conscience to be "his brothers' keeper" in the protection of Jewish people from State persecution. [more]

Brian's Take...

AvatarThe journey to the Resurrection... Following his wedding last Friday evening to Amanda McKenna, Brian Coyne links this all back to the song that started the journey which itself has special connection to Holy Week and the spiritual journey that we're all making this week. The reflection contains a large song file which probably won't be easily accessible by dial-up users so I've provided a text only link as well. [more][text only version]

Best wishes for a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life, and in our world,
