Perspectives of young people Part II
Friday, 29th December 2006

Dear friends,

I did sincerely want this exploration of the spiritual perspectives of young people to extend far beyond the perspectives of my own children. While I have failed in the immediate objective of achieving that in this first foray I am very confident from the feedback I've received that we will be able to return to this in the new year and add to it with other perspectives.

In the meantime I do hope you enjoy today's contribution from my daughter and eldest child, Phoebe. I look forward to the discussion it provokes in our forum. Have a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life, and in our world.

SPECIAL SERIES: Perspectives on Spirituality written by young people...

AvatarPerspectives on Spirituality and Religion written by young people – Pt II Phoebe Coyne Phoebe is the eldest child of the editor, Brian Coyne. She is 30 years old, and is currently completing an arts degree at Murdoch University. If Alex Caughey was concerned about new age ideas and spirituality in his response to Ben's essay he has even more to contend with in what Phoebe writes. The reality is that many young people today are disenchanted with the Catholic way of exploring and explaining spirituality and they are exploring alternative pathways. Phoebe's essay might help explain at least some of the disenchantment one young person feels. [Editor's introduction][Ben's perspective][Phoebe's perspective]
