to think about today... Dear friends, In the last few minutes, just as I've been finishing off today's bulletin, an email has come in alerting me to Sandro Magister's latest blog which looks as though it might make for interesting reading today. The headline and sub-head sum up what it's about... The Vicar of Christ As Explained by His Vicar An enthusiastic cardinal Ruini gives his priests a lecture on the "heart" of Ratzinger's teaching. And he tells them why the pope wanted to write a book about Jesus. I haven't read the article yet but have already perused a couple of brief responses from friends who have. This one caught my eye... The mindset of today seems to say that we cannot know absolute truth and I both agree and disagree. We can know God (whether we do or not is another question) and if God isn't absolute Truth then nothing is. But we can't know God completely. Therefore as Neils Bohr is reputed as saying: The opposite of a fact is a lie, the opposite of a great truth is often another great truth. Magister himself sums it up in this way. "In Ruini's view, the heart of Benedict XVI's teaching is 'the question of the truth of the Christian faith'. Or, in other words, 'how to propose the salvific truth of Jesus Christ to the mindset of our times'." Besides our own offerings for today, me thinks there's a mountain of interesting material also awaiting in the discussion that Sandro Magister's latest blog is likely to stimulate. Have a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life, and in our world. ROSEMARY'S
