EDITOR'S ROUND-UP

Andrew Kania is joining us...
Thursday, 7th December 2006

Dear friends,

I received wonderful news yesterday in a telephone call from Dr Andrew Kania. Some of you may know Andrew has had a regular gig writing for OnLine Catholics and with the imminent demise of that journal Andrew has offered to write for us. I am very pleased to welcome Andrew to our community. Our association goes back a long way as Andrew was once a teacher at John XXIII College in Perth and one of the teachers who had a very positive influence on my own children. Since those days he's earned his doctorate, married and fathered his first child and moved to my other alma mater in Perth, Aquinas College, where, in recent years he's been Director of Spirituality. Andrew was also a regular contributor when I was editing Edmund Rice Network News.

Dr Andrew KaniaAndrew adds to the already high quality of commentaries that we are now providing on Catholica Australia. In addition he brings a slightly different perspective because Andrew is a member of one of the Orthodox churches in communion with Rome so his writing will introduce deeper texture to our own reflections.

Andrew informs me that he just been accepted to undertake further studies at Oxford University so, in time, I am hopeful that he might continue providing us with a perspective from the UK.

In the meantime, for new visitors to our community today, reproduced below is the current advertisement that we are running in the Blue Mountains Gazette in Sydney as a test marketing exercise towards our longer term outreach to the wider community who are more distanced from the Church these days.

Have a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life, and in our world.

FARMER JACK...

AvatarTaking a nap! The editor slept in this morning and poor old Farmer Jack for today is only half animated. We'll hold his appearance until tomorrow morning.
