Trusting in God...
Friday, 17th November 2006

Dear friends,

I'm running a little late today as I've been catching up with my daughter who arrived on a plane from Perth this morning. She's been accepted to try out for an Outward Bound outdoor training course and will be spending the next three days flexing her muscles and doing lots of physical stuff. It was great catching up with her and we have more of the same to do this afternoon. My "secret agenda" is to coax her into writing for Catholica. The plan for a series of articles for young people is still on the go.

Today we have a lovely reflection from Vince relating some of his experiences of being shipwrecked and how we feel in those situations when all we can do is place our trust in God. Fascinating to read the news in recent days that they might be even considering the possibility of married priests. There might be benefits in addressing the vocations shortage but I honestly believe the biggest benefit of having a significant number of married clergy is that it would lead eventually to a far more balanced treatment of the entire issue of human sexuality and what God's plan for humanity really is in this part of his entire Creative plan.

Have a great day wherever you happen to be ... in life, and in our world.

VINCE'S OFFERING ...

Vince ExleyTrusting in God... Yes, Vince did supply the avatar, but you can find a real picture with the story — which is about two experiences Vince has had being shipwrecked. It's about the state of helplessness he feels the Church is in today. [more]

RUTH'S PRAYER...

AvatarFor married priests Ruth really can't believe the news in recent days that the Archbishop Milingo case has actually caused some re-thinking in the Vatican. If it has though, she's all in favour of a review. [more]
