BRIAN'S TAKE...
Is the climate change debate changing the moral climate?

Dear friends,

View from the Cloister...

Three interesting articles have caught my attention in the various news report emails I've received today. I don't have much to say myself today other than to draw attention to what is discussed in these articles.

Guardian Unlimited:
Protect God's creation: Vatican issues new green message for world's Catholics
You can find it at: www.guardian.co.uk/religion/Story/0,,2066711,00.html

OnLine Opinion:
Simon Mundy writes: "This article is an unashamed, though I hope not shameless, precis of an article by Thomas Friedman in New York Times magazine of April 15, 2007. The two main points of the article are Friedman’s major current themes, which I rarely see treated fully in the Australian press. Simply put, they are, first, that our most powerful single means of simultaneously addressing the two issues of minimising CO2 emissions and reducing the resources available to fundamentalist Islamic organisations is to radically reduce our dependence on petroleum and, second, that the West’s great societal advantage in the coming half century is its depth of experience in adapting and developing technological answers to problems of living."
You can find it at: www.onlineopinion.com.au/view.asp?article=5764

Sydney Morning Herald:
Meditation brings spirit of calm to school life — Father Laurence Freeman argues that meditation is one way to tap into children's innate sense of the divine and could lay the spiritual foundations for an enduring religious life that outlasts parent-organised Sunday worship.
