Congresso

Dear friends,

My name is Moisés Sbardelotto and I am a journalist of Instituto Humanitas Unisinos [www.ihu.unisinos.br], of the Jesuit-run Unisinos University [www.unisinos.br}, in the south of Brazil.

Our University, with various other theological organizations, is organizing a Continental Theological Congress in 2012, which will be held at our campus, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the convocation of Vatican II and the 40th anniversary of publication of Gustavo Gutiérrez's book, "A Theology of Liberation".

But the idea is not only to celebrate a memory, but also to propose new perspectives for a progressive theology for our American Continent.

The website of the Congress was launched yesterday, with a event at our campus. The address is: www.unisinos.br/eventos/congresso-de-teologia/ The website will be also available in Spanish and English in some weeks.

You can read an article about yesterday's event here (in Portuguese):

We are planning to congregate theologians as Gustavo Gutiérrez himself, Leonardo Boff, Jon Sobrino and other "fathers" of the Theology of Liberation. It'll be a very especial moment for our Church.

We hope you may be interested to help us to divulgate this good news of the Spirit! Thank you very much.
